Rachin Raviund of New Zealand, Rachin Ravirara, was excluded from the next T20i series of three games against Australia after having suffered a face injury during a training session in Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. The incident occurred on Tuesday when Ravi will collided with a limited hoarding during a commissioning exercise, resulting in facial laceration which required points.The Black Caps called the experienced versatile Jimmy Neesham to replace Ravira for the series, which begins on Wednesday.“We are all really disappointed for Rachin to be forced to miss the series. He suffered a major laceration in his lip and superior nose area which required specialized and complex seams and will take time to heal,” said New Zealand coach Rob Walter.“Rachin is obviously an important player for us, but his health and well-being are our top priority, and the decision was therefore made to send him home to recover with one eye to be available for the England series in two weeks,” added Walter.The Walter coach expressed confidence in Neesham’s ability to fill the void left by the absence of Ravira. “We are lucky to be able to call Jimmy, who brings all his experience and his versatile abilities. It will be a big night to the bay and I know that we are all looking forward to putting the Chappell-Hadlee in progress,” he noted.The New Zealand team of the series includes Michael Bracewell as a captain, with Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, Matt Henry, Bevon Jacobs, Kyle Jamieson, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Tim Robinson, Ben Sears, Tim Seifert and Ish Sodhi.The team hopes that Ravi will recover in time for the next England series, which should take place in two weeks.
