“I have a titanium joint in my right foot,” Elaine explained during her introduction, “which renders half of my foot unusable. Every week, my body is moving to a new pain point, but I just don’t want that to stop me.
The choice to dance on the powerful “Defying Gravity” was deliberate, as Alan wanted the 54-year-old to realize “she can trust herself”, recalling Elaine that “she is stronger than her wounds.”
As the two took the stage, they immediately had the audience spellbound, especially as Elaine literally defied gravity, standing up while holding a broom at the end of the number.
