“ Come see me in the right light ” holds the emotional screening of CIFF

The 21stst The edition of the Camden International Film Festival in Maine celebrated its most emotional imaginable fashion openness, with a projection of the award -winning documentary Come see me in the right day.
The film by Ryan White, an expected Oscar candidate, tells the love story of poets Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley, and how they responded to the diagnosis of Gibson cancer in 2021 and a recurrence of the disease next year. The surprising degree of joy and laughter that the couple was able to live together, even if Gibson learned that their cancer was in terminal phase, touched the public since the film made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
On July 14, Gibson died, just under a month less than their 50th birthday. Thursday evening, Falley made his first public appearance since the death of his wife, assistant to the projection of the documentary CIFF and participating in a conversation thereafter. At the request of the Beadie Finzi moderator, Falley shared words that she wrote the day after the death of his wife.
“In the morning, I woke up without Andrea in this world,” read Falley, “I wrote my first line of poetry for ages:” Come back to me as lightning “, I pleaded on the page,” a certain snap in the sky “. The poem scribbled in a stupor of private sorrow of sleep continued to list the many forms that I want thatrea to return to me. It turns out that it is almost all imaginable forms, all kinds of time, all the spectrum of flora and fauna, Flatam, Jetsam. “(Falley stopped to add laughing:” I’m happy to have them [flowery] words in there. They [Andrea] would not appreciate any of this. »).

Falley continued, describing the way she wants to return to her: “” Each shadow on the chromatic wheel of emotion, fury and wonder, creativity and desire, faith and doubt. Come back to me as doubt ”cannot lose you.
She added: “I have a sweet story about it. [Author] Glennon Doyle and [gold medal-winning soccer star] Abby Wambach, after posting this, sent me a photo of our initials carved in the tree in their lawn. They are wonderful people.
White attended the projection at the Strand Theater of Rockland with producer Jessica Hargrave, as well as Falley.

“Andrea is missing so much,” he told the public. “It’s been only two months … Andrea was able to come to Sundance where we created, then they practically stopped traveling. So, normally during these events, Andrea and Meg appeared behind us on a zoom screen and Jess [Hargrave] And I wouldn’t say anything. And the fact that this does not happen right now is incredibly tearing for me. »»
“It’s a film that changes my life. I can speak for both of us,” said White. “Jess and I have been the best friends since we were small children. We made a lot of films together to return when we were nine years old … It was the most joyful experience we have ever had in our creative life. And I think that this term, “favors a life film”, we disagree with me if he was here if we cannot imagine me in disabled with me in disagreement with me with an inconvenience to go forward with the two in the last two years.
Hargrave spoke to the way she was touched by spending time with Gibson and Falley.
“The big lesson in Broad Strohes for me was to appreciate everyday life and to be grateful for what I have because I may not have it,” she observed. “I know I don’t have it forever and I don’t know when this day comes. One of the things I tell myself sometimes is: “I have these three weeks”, what I like because it is as if we did not know what happens. Three weeks?
Come see me in the right day won the best jury prizes at the Seattle International Film Festival and at the Boulder International Film Festival, as well as audience prizes at the Boulder, at the Sundance Film Festival, at the Provincial International Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival and Hot Docs in Toronto. It is presented worldwide on Apple TV + on November 14.
Finzi, co -director of Doc Society, asked Falley to offer a recommendation from one of Gibson’s books for those who wish to explore the works of the deceased poet. “I always think that with poetry, the most recent are the best,” replied Falley. “So I would go for You better be lightning. “”
