Sprinter Health increases $ 55 million to extend home health services for health plans

Sprinter Health, a mobile healthcare provider, raised $ 55 million in series B financing to help the company extend its team and its footprint, she announced on Thursday.

Sprinter Health, based in Menlo Park, California, works with health plans and offers home and virtual care. Its community health personnel, called Sprinters, and remote practitioner nurses provide diagnostic screening, vital controls, support for medication management, well-being visits and health navigation. Sprinters are W-2 employees and are certified in the form of phlebotomists and trained with skills by assisting medical and community health care. They can also identify unmet social needs, such as autumn risks or food insecurity, and connect patients with resources to meet these needs.

“We mainly focus on the realization of the populations that are largely disconnected from the health system: we specialize in the commitment of non-engagement,” said Max Cohen, CEO and co-founder of the company, in an email.

The Tour of the 55 million dollars series was led by General Catalyst and included the participation of Andreessen Horowitz (A16z) Bio + Health, The Regents of the University of California, Google Ventures and Accel. In total, Sprinter Health raised more than $ 125 million.

“We believe that Sprinter Health emerges as a business defining the categories in home care,” said Holly Maloney, general manager of General Catalyst, in a statement. “They have built the technological infrastructure to do both scalable and impactful care for people who need it most.”

Funding will help Sprinter Health to develop its clinical, engineering, AI and operations teams, said Cohen. The company will also add new geographic regions to provide more coverage to its paid partners. He currently operates in 18 states and plans to extend to 22 by the end of the summer, according to the announcement. Sprinters have also made nearly 100,000 visits to people’s home.

Funding arrives at a time when access to quality care is a challenge, and it is often too expensive. This is what Sprinter Health hopes to approach with his home and virtual care model, said Cohen.

“Obtaining basic tests and screening for treatable diseases alone is increasingly difficult for people of all ages due to the cost, distance or inability to determine the complex health system in this country. … If you extend access under the status quo, expenses would increase even more, which constituted a system already strongly underwater,” he said. “The private capital of innovation allows the development of alternative models which can bend these cost curves, and our success in the name of paid partners so far generates innovation and investment to continue to put these solutions on the scale.”

There are several other companies that offer home and virtual care, including Dispatchhealth, which has recently acquired it, another home care provider.
