Sources: Ty Simpson has appointed the quarter-back from Alabama

Ty Simpson will open the 2025 season as a quarter-back from Alabama, sources said on Monday in ESPN.

Simpson and his teammates were informed of the decision on Monday during a meeting. Alabama coach Kalen Deboer and the attacking coordinator Ryan Grubb said Simpson several times that Simpson would be the starter if the Crimson Tide was to play at that time.

Simpson is at its fourth year on campus. He has been a rescue quarter of the Alabama each of the last two seasons. Student in the second year Austin Mack and the real recruit Keelon Russell were the other two quarters in competition for the position.

The Alabama held its first melee of pre-season last Saturday, and sources told ESPN that three-quarters had played well, but that the command of Simpson for the offense was particularly good and that it was the most comfortable of the three.

Simpson, a 6-2, 208 pound junior Redsirt has not yet started a match in Alabama. Its most extensive and significant action came two years ago against southern Florida on the road. He got out of the bench in the second quarter to lead the Alabama to 17 points unanswered in a 17-3 victory against southern Florida. Simpson finished 5 out of 9 for 73 yards and added a touch of 1 rod in a 3-3 match equally at halftime.

Simpson and Jalen Milroe competed for the starting work before the 2023 season. Milroe won the post, but was put on the bench for the match in the south of Florida. Simpson and Tyler Buchner divided time against Bulls, and Milroe returned to the starting role for the rest of this season and all in 2024.

Simpson was a quarter-threatening quarter 2 of ESPN n ° 2 nationally in the 2022 class and chose Alabama on Clemson and Tennessee. His father, Jason, is the head coach of Ut Martin.

Alabama plays Florida State on August 30 to open the season.
