A piece of rock history should hit the block.
The 1982 electric guitar of the rocker Eddie Van Halen in 1982 will be auctioned by New York of Sotheby during the inaugural week of the house from October 21 to 28. According to estimates, the guitar, which has been tailor -made for Van Halen’s star, is expected to bring $ 2 million to $ 3 million. A previous Sotheby sale for a guitar belonging to Van Halen – that exhibited in the group’s “Hot For Teacher” clip – brought in $ 3,932,000 in April 2023.
Based on the original design of Van Halen “Frankenstein”, the play was widely played during the Van Halen tours in 1982-83, seen on stage during concerts in Philadelphia; Caracas, Venezuela; São Paulo, Brazil; And Buenos Aires, Argentina. Van Halen offered the guitar to a longtime friend and guitar technician Robin “Rudy” Leiren, who sold him later to Mick Mars, former main guitarist and co-founder of Mötley Crüe. The guitar will be exhibited in Monterey, California, from August 13 to 16, a date that coincides with RM Sotheby’s Monterey Auctions. He will mark the first time that the guitar has been seen in public in more than 40 years since Van Halen played it for the last time in concert.
