Sorry Siri fans, don’t expect these Apple Intelligence Delayed Intelligence before 2026

Update 06/12/25: A new report by Bloomberg Mark Gurman says that his sources (“people who know the question”) indicate that Apple targets the iOS 26.4 update to provide these Siri features to users. Updates X.4 are generally published in March.
At WWDC last summer, Apple showed certain advanced features of Siri as part of Apple Intelligence which were to be updated from iOS 18 this spring. Apple even broadcast television advertisements promoting the iPhone 16 which presented these features. Then, this spring, Apple delayed the release of these features and said that they would be delivered “in the coming year”.
Now we have confirmed that this not means later in 2025. The new Siri features will not be part of iOS 26, or an update 26.1 or 26.2. As a reminder, there are three main Siri features which were supposed to be here but missed the deadline iOS 18:
Screen consciousness: Siri can read what is on your screen and take an appropriate contextual action. When you look at a screen with an address, ask Siri to “add this to my contacts” will know what you are talking about, for example.
Personal context: Siri will use your mail, your messages, your web history, etc. To create a contextual profile of you. (No data leaves your iPhone, it’s private.) So when you ask him for information, this can give you answers that are specific to you and your life.
Actions in the application: A massive expansion of “application intentions” will allow developers to create applications so that Siri can perform actions within them. “Make this photo in black and white and send it to my wife” should be able to perform the necessary actions in photos and messages without your intervention. Hundreds of application intentions would allow Siri to do all kinds of things in Apple applications and third -party applications.
In an interview with WWDC with Mark Spoonauer of Tom’s Guide and launches Ulanoff de Tech Radar, Apple software engineering manager, Craig Federighi, and Marketing Greg “Joz” Joswiak explained what happened and what we can expect. As Federighi explains, these announced characteristics were under construction on the Siri architecture “V1” and worked, but not well enough. And to meet the quality bar, these features must be built on the new Siri architecture “V2”.
Apple has these features and more work, internally, using the new V2 architecture, but will not announce a date for when we can expect it until it reaches the level of quality which its customers are waiting for.
When he is in a hurry by Spoonauer, who asked: “Instead of a real release date, is it acceptable to say 2026, or is it too wide?” Joz replied: “Yes, that’s what we said.” Federighi then explained how the “V2” architecture used in a homogeneous manner in all Siri gives Apple “high quality and much better.”
Of course, 2026 is still in a half year, and we do not know When In 2026, we can expect all of this. Apple could publish the major V2 Siri update as an update of the 26 OSS version in the spring, perhaps with iOS / macOS / iPados 26.4 or similar. But it could also happen in iOS 27 in the fall of 2026, or even as an update of this. A new report by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg says that Apple is currently aiming for the iOS 26.4 update, around Mars, for these features. Timing could change.
No matter how you look at it, if you want a new and improved Siri, you will wait a while. And you should probably not expect that Apple announces a date or gives a demo until it is ready to be launched.
