Smriti Mandhana’s Father Suffers Heart Attack During Marriage; the family forced to make a big decision

Smriti Mandhana’s father Shrinivas Mandhana reportedly suffered a heart attack, which disrupted his marriage to her long-time father-in-law Palash Muchhal.

Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana, who recently won the ICC World Cup 2025, was in the best phase of her career and later took a big step in her personal life. Mandhana was proposed to by long-time beau Palash Muchhal at the same venue where she had won the World Cup.

Smriti Mandhana’s wedding halted due to medical emergency

Smriti Mandhana announced her marriage on November 23 to famous Bollywood singer and composer Palash Muchhal. However, the project hit a major hurdle: the cricketer’s father suffered a sudden heart attack on the very day of the wedding.

The wedding has been called off for the moment and no details have been confirmed about how their wedding ceremony will take place. The attack took place at the Mandhana family’s farmhouse in Samdol, Sangli.

According to the family, Mandhana’s father’s health deteriorated on Sunday morning and he was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. His condition seemed stable, but doctors ordered him to be hospitalized for a while.

“The doctors said he should stay in the hospital until he gets better…I mean, we are all equally in shock. We all want him to recover quickly. Like I said, Smriti is very clear. She wants her father to get better before thinking about marriage,” Mandhana’s manager added.

Smriti Mandhana’s manager confirmed postponement of her wedding

Smriti Mandhana’s manager Tuhin Mishra has confirmed that she has postponed her wedding indefinitely until her father is better.

“This morning, while Smriti’s father Mr. Shrinivas Mandhana was having breakfast, his health started deteriorating,” Mishra told media on Sunday.

“We waited for a while because we thought maybe it was something normal and he would get better. But the situation continued to get worse. We thought we wouldn’t take any chances and called the ambulance. He was taken to hospital and is under observation.”

“Smriti Mandhana, as you know, is very, very close to her father. So she has decided that until the time he is not well, this wedding, which was supposed to take place today, is postponed indefinitely,” he added.

Who is Shrinivas Mandhana?

Apart from being the father of one of the best Indian women cricketers of the modern era, as he was a former district level cricketer, where he represented Sangli. He wanted to play the sport professionally, but didn’t have the support of his family.

He later helped his daughter, Smriti Mandhana, become a rising cricketer after she was identified as a prodigy of the game. However, her brother did not pursue the same profession as her.
