Christopher Nolan elected President of Directors Guild of America

Christopher Nolan was elected President of Directors Guild of America, taking up the reins while the union is preparing for upcoming negotiations with major studios.
Nolan, winner of the Oscars and one of the most successful headsets of his generation, succeeds Lesli Linke Glatter, who served two mandates at the helm and was elected for the first time in 2021. He was active in the DGA for some time and is currently a member of his National Directors Council.
“Being elected president of Directors Guild of America is one of the greatest honors in my career,” said Nolan. “Our industry is experiencing enormous changes, and I thank the guild members for condemning this responsibility to me. I would also like to thank President Glatter for his leadership in the past four years. I can’t wait to collaborate with her and the newly elected advice to obtain important creative and economic protections for our members. ”
Over the past four years, the DGA has concentrated its lobbying efforts in Sacramento on security problems. The union was pressure for a pilot program that requires a security supervisor on productions of productions supported by the incentive to the film and television tax in California.
The union was also strongly involved in the lobbying effort this year to extend tax credit to California and include a wider range of productions.
In negotiations, the union focused on expanding foreign streaming residues. If tradition holds, the DGA will have initial conversations with the Alliance for film and television producers at the start of next year. During the last contract cycle in 2023, the DGA was the only one of the three major unions to reach a new contract without a non -stop work. The last DGA contract takes place until June 30, 2026.
The election of Nolan marks a rare example of a player on the list A head of the union at the top of his professional power. Nolan obtained two Oscars for his “Oppenheimer’s” management of 2023. He has proven himself as one of the most versatile and most bancable helmets of Filmdom with his history of gender photos (“Batman Begins”, “The Dark Knight”) with exhilarating dramas (“Dunkirk”, “Mement”).
Nolan’s next big swing on the big screen is “The Odyssey”, a story of the epic adventure that takes place in July by Universal Pictures, the studio that marked the Oscars and the world box office with Nolan’s “Oppenheimer”.
