Mark Hamill addresses the rumors he “left” the “Star Wars” franchise

May the force be with you.
Mark Hamill finally puts the records on recent rumors which he “left” the “Star Wars” franchise.
The 73-year-old actor, who portrayed Luke Skywalker in six of popular science fiction films, spoke of his future in a galaxy far, very far in an episode of “Sunday with Willie Geist” by NBC News which takes place on June 15.
“Well, let me say: they didn’t ask me,” Hamill told Geist, adding that he did not leave the emblematic franchise. “It’s not like they said,” Please come back. “”
“I don’t want to make a big public relations declaration like” this is my decision, “he added. “I just say that it was really like a conclusion. My character was given a complete closure. I died, ironically by overdose on the force, I could emphasize.”
The character of Hamill dies at the end of 2017 “The Last Jedi” of 2017.
But despite the death of Skywalker, Hamill resumed the role again in “The Rise of Skywalker” of 2019 as a force of force.
“The Rise of Skywalker” seemed officially to finish the arc of the character who started when Hamill described Luke Skywalker for the first time in George Lucas’ first film in the franchise 42 years earlier in 1977.
“Once the Skywalker trilogy is finished, it was a whole new era for them,” Hamill told Geist. “George gave them this incredible canvas, all the galaxy. They can make westerns, mysteries, comedies, something, everything in this area of ”Star Wars”.
“And they are doing so well,” he continued. “I just think it’s time. I had my time. I am really grateful, but I really look at the future for all these new projects. ”
The rumors that Hamill left the “Star Wars” franchise began to swirl last month when the actor also told Comicbook.com that he “had his time” with the series of science fiction and “they should focus on the future”.
“I am so grateful to George for having allowed me to be part of this day, the humble days when George called” Star Wars “the most expensive budget film ever made,” he told the site on May 31. “We did not expect him to become a permanent franchise and part of pop culture like that.”
“But my agreement is that I had my time,” continued Hamill. “I appreciate it, but I really think they should focus on the future and all the new characters.”
Whether Hamill returns or not, Disney has several other “Star Wars” projects planned for the future – including an autonomous film featuring Ryan Gosling entitled “Star Wars: Starfighter”.
“This is the ideal place to start this trip for us, because it is an incredible reminder of the reason why we are going to make this film and for whom we are going to make this film,” said Gosling, 44, when the film was announced in April.
“It is an autonomous. It is not a prequel, not a sequel. It is a new adventure,” he added. “It is established in a certain time that we have not yet seen explored.”
