Matthew Hayden exposes the shocking reason behind Virat Kohli’s horror show in Perth ODI

Australian batting legend Matthew Hayden has praised Indian legend Virat Kohli for his extraordinary career and his ability to dominate in all given conditions in the ODI format. However, he also said that Kohli should be clear as overthinking often leads to mistakes.
Chasing a revised target of 131, the Australians remained in the lead from the first ball. Captain Mitchell Marsh took the lead with a captain’s knock of 46*, which kept the team together and avoided a collapse. Josh Philippe also played a handy knock before debutant Matt Renshaw scored the winning runs in a fourth-wicket partnership alongside the captain.
Australia took an early lead in the series, with the second ODI scheduled to be played on October 23 in Adelaide.

Former Australian opening batter Matthew Hayden has praised Virat Kohli despite his duck in the first match in Perth. The Australian legend said Virat Kohli was worth the hype because of his extraordinary international career, highlighting his impeccable accuracy throughout a career that spanned over two decades.
With over 14,000 runs, Kohli is the second highest run-getter in the format after Sachin Tendulkar, and Australians have gone gaga over his finesse.
“Virat Kohli’s hitting ability and touchpoints are exceptional. Having scored 14,000 runs in this format, there is not much to question about his approach as he consistently plays the ball upfield and finds the timing early,” Hayden said on Star Sports.
‘He’s destructive when he has clarity’ – Hayden calls for change in approach for Kohli to return to form
After the Indian order struggled to score runs in the opening ODI, there was a flurry of advice from several former cricketers, and Hayden also expressed his opinion on the same. Rohit Sharma got out for 8 runs, while Virat Kohli was dismissed without scoring.
The former great shed light on Kohli’s destructive core when he urged him to avoid overthinking. He suggested that Kohli enjoys remarkable game awareness and decisiveness from his years of experience in international cricket, which helps him thrive in high-pressure situations.
“I hope he avoids arguing with himself and overthinking, which can lead to mistakes. He is destructive when he has clarity, certainty and the ability to read the game, qualities that his experience gives him,” he added.
