Shreyas Iyer will be out of action for 2-3 months and miss SA and NZ ODIs

Shreyas Iyer has been a vital cog in India’s ODI set-up and was recently elevated to the role of vice-captain.
India batter and PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer is expected to remain out of action for an extended period of time. As per a new report in India Today, after latest health evaluation, he has been asked to avoid high-intensity workout. In fact, he could be out for a good two months, the report further suggests.

He had suffered an abdominal injury during the IND vs AUS ODI series, in Sydney on October 25, and had to be immediately rushed to the hospital. There is was revealed, that it could have been serious injury, which caused laceration of spleen, which further resulted in internal bleeding.
Now, Shreyas Iyer is back in India, and has been under constant medical supervision. He got an USG scan done from the famous sports medicine specialist Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala. As per the report, the batter has shown steady recovery, but needs more time to be fully fit.
Could be fit in 2-3 months
He has been cleared for normal daily activities, and also some isometric exercises. That said, the doctors have cautioned him against any intra-dominal pressure. There would another scan done next week too. So after this two-month cycle is, when he can commence his rehab at Bengaluru CoE.
That also means, that he could be next seen playing competitive cricket, in only three months. He could miss the SA and NZ ODI series as well; all that when he was elevated to the VC position in the format. More importantly, it remains to be seen, if he would be fully fit for the next season of the IPL or not.
Being the skipper of PBKS, he was retained by side, and would be expected to play a major role once again.
