Valentina Shevchenko, representing Kyrgyzstan, defeated China’s Weili Zhang in the co-main event of the UFC 322 tournament, which takes place in New York.
The flyweight title fight lasted five rounds. Shevchenko won by unanimous decision.
Shevchenko, 37, has 26 wins and four losses in MMA. Zhang, 36, has 26 wins and four losses.
Zhang previously vacated the organization’s minimum weight title. Shevchenko held the flyweight belt from 2018 to 2023. At UFC 285, she lost to Alexa Grasso and lost the title. The rematch ended in a draw. At UFC 306 in September 2024, Shevchenko defeated Grasso by unanimous decision and regained his champion status.
Throughout her career, Shevchenko has won title fights 11 times, and after today’s fight she has nine successful defenses under her belt.
