Shawn Kemp pleads guilty to 2nd degree assault during the shooting incident

Six times, All-Star NBA, Shawn Kemp pleaded guilty Tuesday for the second degree in the second degree in relation to a shooting incident outside a Tacoma shopping center, Washington, in March 2023.

According to information, the prosecutor suggested to the judge of the County Court of Pierce that Kemp was sentenced to nine months in prison plus one year of community guard while paying a restitution to his victims. The conviction is scheduled for August 22.

Kemp, 55, pleaded guilty to having fired two men in a Toyota 4Runner. Kemp said he had his mobile phone, sports memories and other personal effects stolen in his truck. He drew his phone at Toyota 4Runner and accosted the driver without any resolution.

Later, according to his account, Kemp traced his phone at the Tacoma shopping center and saw the same Toyota 4Runner. Although Kemp said he had shot self -defense after being targeted by someone in the car, a video showed that Kemp started shooting his vehicle.

Kemp’s shooting did not hit anyone, but they damaged the 4runner and another car. His two alleged targets are currently in prison for unrelated charges.

Kemp was selected by the Supersonics in the first round of the NBA recovery in 1989 and spent the first eight of his 14 NBA seasons in Seattle. The “Reign Man” collected an average of 14.6 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game during his career. He made six consecutive appearances to the stars from 1993 to 1998.
