Shane Steichen, Colts to honor Jim Irsay during the 2025 season with a personalized guitar presented before each match
While the colts were resting at the football center of the Indiana farm office on the day of the Labor Day to start preparing for week 1, the owner and CEO Carlie Irsay-Gordon spoke to the whole heritage team that his late father, Jim Irsay, left.
The totem of the colts this year – their kind of annual mantra which works as an undercover of the season – is “win for jim”. Irsay-Gordon talked about what his father meant and what he represented during his remarkable life.
After Irsay-Gordon finished speaking, head coach Shane Steichen intervened.
“Hey,” says Steichen, “we still have one thing to honor your father this season.”
Steichen released a blue guitar. Above: the logo of the Horseshoe colts and three words.
Steichen will present the guitar to a player of his choice at each team meeting on Saturday evening during the 2025 season, and this player will have the honor of bringing the guitar into the stadium in which the colts play the next day. For week 1, Steichen granted the guitar to the defensive tackle and to the longtime captain of the Deforest Buckner team.
