The police said that 10:00 am local time (9:00 a.m. BST), they started an operation in a secondary school around the city of Graz, in southeast Austria.
According to the media, shots were heard from a large secondary school in Dreierschützengasse.
The Austrian Interior Ministry claims that a number of people are afraid that the dead, including the alleged shooter, while local media say that the police said that he had killed themselves.
Many people are seriously injured, according to local media, including students and teachers.
The police operation is still underway as it evacuates the school building. There is a large police presence on the ground, including special units.
