Seth Meyers expects Trump to take credit for the first American pope

The Vatican elected their very first American pope on Thursday, and Seth Meyers is almost sure that Donald Trump will try to assign the credit.
Robert Francis Prevost, who will take the name of Pope Leo, was selected to succeed Pope Francis, who died last month at the age of 88. By discussing the selection during the “closer” segment on Thursday evening, Seth Meyers was mainly tickled by the fact that the selection was getting rid of a trade exchange that Trump announced on Thursday.
But, because Pope Leo is an American – he also happens to be a double citizen of Peru, also marking the first Peruvian Pope – the figures of the NBC Trump host will claim credit for his election.
“” The prices work! ” “, Joked Meyers, imitating Trump as he often does. “‘We are doing our own popes now, even here in America, we will reopen the Pope’s factories.'”
Later Thursday, it was revealed that Prevost was also openly critical of the Trump administration, and in particular JD Vance. Given the recent history of the vice-president with the popes, which amused Meyers even more.
“You guys, JD Vance is 0 for two on the popes,” he joked. “He harvested the last one, then he was soaked by him. This is how you know that the new Pope is from Chicago. You know, the Pope is supposed to love everyone, but even this guy is like, hey, JD can kiss my ass.” “”
At the last song, Meyers put an exaggerated accent of Chicago – but not terrible, since he was born just outside the city.
“I want to get this impression out before I definitely discover that he does not look like this,” said Meyers, before returning to the voice. “DAAAAAAAAAA PAND!”
