Series of Ind VS WS tests on the horizon, Shubman Gill & Co Set for the practice of red balloon during the Asian Cup 2025

Shubman Gill and some other players will also suffer a red ball preparation during the 2025 Asian Cup with the Ind VS WA series on the horizon.
India’s multi format players will have to switch on and off between red and white ball cricket over the next few weeks. While the Men in Blue are in action in the Asia Cup 2025, the IND vs WI Test series is not far away. As a result, the likes of Shubham Gill and Co will undergo training for both the assignments in the UAE on the sidelines of the Asia Cup.
Shubman Gill & Co to juggle Tests and T20 during Asia Cup 2025
Suryakumar Yadav led India will have their eyes on clinching the Asia Cup title with the tournament kick starting on September 9. The tournament acts as pivotal preparation for the T20 World Cup next year. However, while the onus will be on the Indian team to add another title to their cabinet, many will only glance at the India vs West Indies following the Asia Cup 2025.
Should India play the final, there will only be a 4-day gap between the tournament and the IND vs WI Tests. The likes of Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav were all part of the England tour and will be in contention to play the series. Insidesport understands some of the players who will play in IND vs WI Test series will also practice with red ball during Asia Cup.
Juggling multiple formats is the new reality of cricket and is not an other worldly experience for Indian stars. Gill and Co practiced with red ball during the IPL 2025 in preparation for the India vs England series. While doing so at a multi-nation tournament is a tough ask, it is what the schedule demands.
India play West Indies in a two-Test series starting October 2. The matches will be played in Ahmedabad and Delhi and form a crucial part of India’s World Test Championship cycle.
