Senator Chris Murphy says that the Democrats bear all responsibility for the loss of 2024

Connecticut senator, Chris Murphy, thinks that democrats must “assume all responsibility” for the loss of the 2024 elections, he told the host of “Meet the Press”, Kristen Welker on Sunday.

The couple talked about the book of Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson “Original Sin”, which Murphy admitted that he had not read. “But I know I worked with [former President Biden] Throughout 2022 on the firearm bill, which saved, by the way, thousands of lives. He was intimately involved in these negotiations. »»

“I was in the White House in the fall of 2023 by doing an hour and a half in length on really complicated developments in the Middle East, and I saw a president who was in control. It is therefore my experience, ”he continued. “But I admit that in 2024, the American public had decided, on the right, that they wanted the Democratic Party to appoint someone new, and it was absolutely a mistake for the party not to listen to these voters.”

A post-debate survey in the summer of 2024 said that 72% of respondents thought Biden no longer had mental and cognitive health to be president. He abandoned the presidential race in July, giving Vice-President Kamala Harris a handful of months to set up a campaign that was ultimately unsuccessful.

When asked if he feels that he assumes responsibility for the loss of Harris, Murphy said: “I think we are all responsibility. Listen, and I think, you know, we may not have listened as early as we should have, in part because we may have been loyal to this man who had led this country to a reduction in inflation, to the reduction of inflation.

“But ultimately, retrospectively, you cannot defend what the Democratic Party has done because we are stuck with a madman, with a corrupt president in the oval office, and we should have given ourselves a better chance of winning.”
