Selma Blair is always looking for answers.
When she had trouble with her health, she was determined to understand what was going on. And when her skin previously clear took a worse turn after having her son, Arthur, 14, she wanted to know why.
And she wanted to fix it.
During this process to try to understand his “self-immune skin fiery, reactive, textured, burning, autoimmune”, as she describes, Blair tried a variety of products and treatments before finally finding ESK. It was her savior after a long period to hide due to her autoimmune disease (she shared her diagnosis with multiple multiple sclerosis in 2018.) and the resulting skin pushes.
“My skin was sensitive, a really painful place,” she said to people of this period. “I had no pictures, I did not leave the house.”

When a beautician recommended him Esk, Blair was ready to give him a gunshot. And when it started to clarify her skin, she admits that she was skeptical about the duration of the duration. But he has the last, and Blair was on the way to feel more confident. But she couldn’t stop there. Always curious, Blair linked the founder of ESK, Dr. Ginni Mansberg, and presented him with an idea for a new product: an all-in-one night cream on which she could feel confident to add her name and recommend to her fans.
Enter: Ultimate A Gold
“The memory was that I want to attack fine lines, large pores, pigmentation, slimming skin, but I want to do it in a way that will always continue to build my skin barrier,” said Dr. Ginni, as she knows customers.
Dr. Ginni breaks down exactly what is in this product, explaining that it contains four types of ceramids, niacinamide, squalane, polydroxy acid, retina and more. Retraint is “the hero ingredient” here because it is known to function well on sensitive skin without causeing irritation. And you will know when a product is filled with retinity, because it is bright yellow, like ultimate gold. In the end, Dr. Ginni thinks that the pair (plus a robust team that helped create the product) nailed it.
“It is approved by Selma, which is very important,” said Dr. Ginni, with Blair adding that it is his “hero product”.
THE Cruel intentions Star, 53, was strongly involved in the entire creation process, which, according to her, was a real delight. She tells people that she “always studied the reference of the doctor’s office” when she was young, because she was a “sickly child”. She was always curious to know more about her own health, which taught her a lot about science in general.
“There was always this sense of, like, looking for and you will find. You are going to hit something,” says Blair. “I appreciate the search for things.”

Blair’s partnership with ESK intervenes after years to deal with its SEP – both unmatched and after its diagnosis – and the difficulties it encountered because of this. For a few years, she left the spotlight to take care of herself.
“I was a lot at home. I had a lot of difficult days,” said Blair. “The skin really took me out of the labor market, because I will pass through something almost, if I owe it for my son or to earn a living or to try it. I could spend the day. I fall asleep, wake up, vomit, whatever I do. But you cannot present yourself on the tray with a very, very bumpy and broken skin texture.”
She adds that all the problems with her skin also attacked his confidence. In the middle of her other health difficulties, the skin of the problem was the last thing she was to face – but she did what she could to go through.
“Five years ago when I only brought my child to school and home and I did what I had to do to follow,” she said.
One of the only projects on which she worked during this period was Ordinary worldWith Billie Joe Armstrong, Fred Armisen and Judy Greer. There were such “big” problems with her skin that Blair says that she was “ashamed” by the amount of makeup that artists had to use on her for filming. She doesn’t like to see again this time or watching her skin at the time, but she knew in the middle of her self-imposed break, she just wanted to go back to work.
“My dream was like, I just said to a facial:” One day, I just want to be able to wake up and not instantly try to cover myself with so many foundations to hide it. “And I’m happy to be there now,” said Blair admitting that she looked “rough” for a while.

Blair announced in 2021 that her MS was in remission, and she tells people now that she is going very well. She has a lot to excite, and she puts herself slowly in the Hollywood game.
“I was so open and vulnerable and grateful for the people who helped me, and I really got back from the job market because I knew, oh my God, I could not keep my speech equal to continuity or balance where I tried different treatments to improve me,” she said. “So I was very honest not to be able to hack him. But then, when I said to myself:” Okay, I improve myself, I build endurance, I’m ready to do things. “This is sort of difficult part: you have to do yourself again.”
Blair is ready to prove himself, whether in the world of actor or in the world of beauty. These days, she is more confident and has little to complain about-even if she admits that complaining is her “language of love”.
“I build a whole new life, and it’s so better to be able to put a better face forward. There are so many things that fascinate me now.”
