Selectors to have trouble picking the goalkeeper between Dhruv Jurel-Jitesh Sharma for the Asian Cup

Asia Cup 2026: The combination of the India team looks like a large puzzle for the moment, where each position seems to have 3-4 authentic contenders.

The last time Jiteh Sharma, an explosive goalkeeper, played for India in T20is, he did not have the best races. In 9 games, he scored 100 points, with an average of 14. He was then ousted from the team in January 2024. But then, he was certainly in the running for a place in the team of the Asian 2025 Cup from India, after an IPL 2025 epic.

In the team winning campaign, he then scored 261 points, with a better 85, and an average of 37. It was also his first first tournament in the tournament. What added to his stronger case is that RCB continued to raise the title, and he was part of the leadership group, with the skipper Rajat Patidar and Virat Kohli.

But between him and a return from India is, Dhruv Jurel de RR, who has not only had his best season too, but is definitely considered to be the future of the team. Yes, there were doubts about its T20 capacities, but the IPL this year dissipated all of this. In 14 games, he scored 333 points at an average of 37, including two fifty and a strike rate of 156.

No clear choice, but swear touches in advance

He struck 22 six and as much to four of his campaign, to show, he is a striker who can also fight explosively. So who really does it between Jiteh Sharma and Dhruv Jurel? Well, it’s not really a straight choice. The age and the look at the future, Jurel could well pee Jiteh, but his references are not bad either.

Another factor, which could well seal the agreement for Jurel is that he has worked regularly in the Indian team since 2024. So he would be much more confident in the configuration. As for Jiteh, performance pressure could perhaps hinder its form. But again, nothing can be removed from the way he struck this year for RCB.

In the end, everything comes down to what team management thinks, Gautam Gambir and Ajit Agarkar. The announcement of the India team should take place from August 19 to 20, where these things will be clarified.
