Los Angeles-based production company Electric Entertainment will produce Dana Elazar-Halevi’s bestselling young adult book series. Secret mission For television.
Electric revealed the MIPCOM news on Tuesday with the co-production company, a subsidiary of French group Superprod, co-producing shows in France, Italy and the UK, and Ananey Studios also partnering on the project.
Elazar-Halevi’s fast-paced, live-action YA thriller blends espionage, romance, and coming-of-age drama against the backdrop of the world’s major cities. The announcement was made today jointly by Electric Entertainment CEO Dean Devlin, The Co-Production Company EPs Doug Schwalbe and Amy Friedman, and Ananey Studio VP of International Relations Hila Pachter.
“This is our first international co-production, and we couldn’t be more excited to launch into the young adult market,” Devlin said. “The book series feels like a teen version of our popular franchise. Leverage – full of clever twists, team dynamics and high-stakes missions. We can’t wait to see these stories come to life and see the adventures jump off the page and onto the screen.
Also announced Tuesday, Electric Entertainment entered into an agreement with Content Partners Capital (CPC), the new private equity division of leading entertainment investment firm Content Partners, securing $20 million in capital to support its studio’s growth plans.
This transaction is the next in a series of deals completed by CPC since its launch in April last year.
