Sebastian Korda withdrew from the first round match against Cameron Norrie

The American Sebastian Korda retired from his first round match against Cameron Norrie at the US Open on Monday with an apparent back injury.
Korda, 25, was 7-5, 6-4 when he retired before the third set. The 75th world -class player sits his head covered with a towel at the Stadium 17, recently returned from an injury to the tibia which had put him away from the French Open in June. Korda came out of a race in the semi-final of the Winston-Salem Open, where he retired before last Friday’s match against Marton Fucsovics, citing a disease.
Clearly struggling with its movement, Korda called for a medical dead time at the start of the second set and trying to shorten the points as much as possible. He won 18 of the 29 net points (62%), while Norrie sought to extend the points and keep her opponent in motion.
For Norrie, 30 years old, it broke a sequence of three consecutive defeats. The Briton reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, where he fell into right sets on Carlos Alcaraz.
Norrie absorbed 12 AS from Korda while winning a pair of rupture points to take the first two sets. Korda was unable to convert to any of her six break points and had 28 unrefitled errors.
