Seattle Seahawks criticized a lack of respect before week 1

Seattle Seahawks may have won 10 games last season, but they don’t seem to have many believers before the NFL 2025 campaign.

Take Thomas Valentine from Pro Football Focus, for example, who placed the 20th Seahawks of his power classification by week 1.

“The Seahawks made the decision difficult to separate from Geno Smith during the offseason, the Raiders exchanging and replacing it with Sam Darnold,” wrote Valentine. “This movement probably aggravates Seattle in the quarter-Arrière, but the team appears happy after obtaining a better offensive line, a new weapon to Cooper Kupp and a new game player in Klint Kubiak.”

Are the Seahawks really worse in the quarter-tree? Smith launched 4,320 yards, 21 affected and 15 interceptions in 2024. He was not great. Meanwhile, Darnold finished with 4,319 yards, 35 affected and 12 choices with the Vikings du Minnesota.

“The offensive will go on a week of knife with Darnold, but the defense has the potential to be the best in the league in 2025,” added Valentine. “The Mike Macdonald plan comes into force, and the ground feels considerably higher for this team.”

Either Smith is strongly surfed, or Darnold is considerably underestimated here. It seems that the first, because there is probably not much difference between the two quarters. In fact, it can be said that Darnold is actually better at this stage.

Seattle lost the Large DK Metcalf receiver, but he swung a business for Cooper Kupp and wrote Tory Horton. In addition, Jaxon Smith-Migba could take a big step in front this fall.

As for the defense of the Seahawks, the unit finished 14th in 2024, but it is a young and improving group that could certainly be elite this season, especially given the formidable secondary in Seattle.

In addition to that, the NFC West is not an extremely difficult division. The teams are all equal, and the Seahawks finished with the same record as the division champion Los Angeles Rams last season.

Seattle may not be a competitor of the Super Bowl, but classifying the 20th Seahawks – three places behind the Cardinals of Arizona of the last place, notice – certainly feels quite disrespectful.
