No interference from the federal government, say local leaders
The local leaders of Washington said they expect the police to take care of demonstrations with professionalism and without “interference from the federal government”.
Governor Bob Ferguson, the director of the county of King Shannon Braddock, the mayor of Seattle Bruce Harrell, the director of the county of Pierce Ryan Mello and the mayor of Tacoma Victoria Woodards published on Wednesday afternoon a joint declaration condemning President Donald Trump for having sent the National Guard to California despite the objections of his governor.
Ferguson signed a bill on April 21 which prevents military forces outside the state from entering Washington.
The law entered into force immediately due to an emergency clause.
