Season 13 of “ Chicago Pd ” must bring this only character – and no, it is not Jay Halstead

Chicago PDSeason 12 of the ‘S did not finish the way one might think that an episode called “VOWS” would be, in particular with the marriage, finally, of Burzek. Instead, the long -awaited time has become a footnote in the larger story surrounding the Voight (Jason Beghe) Notify Reid (Shawn Hatosy), returning to his old tricks instead of holding back to the operation of the law, deploying the moral compass of unity as a whole. What the intelligence unit needs is a figure that can restore this moral compass, keep an eye on the Voight and even stand it if necessary. Does such unicorn exist? Yes, and his name is Antonio Dawson (Jon this).
Antonio Dawson begins as a Second Commander of Voight in “Chicago PD”
Antonio Dawson joined the intelligence unit in “Stepping Stone”, the pilot episode of Chicago PDRecruited from the Vice team thanks to their skills in infiltration work. He was not a stranger in the One Chicago franchise, however, having appeared in the third episode of Chicago FireThe first season, performing interference with the CFD after the son of Voight Justin (Josh Segarra) entered a driving accident in a state of drunkenness. Things did not start well for her intelligence stay, when her partner, Julie (Melissa Sagemiller), was tragically killed right in front of him while continuing the boss of the crime Adres “Pulpo” Diaz (Arturo del Puerto).
Diaz did not stop there, kidnapping Dawson Diego’s son (Zach Garcia) In episode 2. While it was rescued, the act placed a flaw between him and his wife, Laura (America Olive), which would only deepen after Dawson was shot down and seriously injured by Diaz in “My Way”, the thirteenth episode of this first season. The final straw was that Dawson returned to work shortly after, when she wanted him to leave and the family is getting closer to his sister from Illinois. Eventually, Laura took and left with the children while Dawson was at workLeaving it with an empty house and a letter on the table. The divorce that followed would play a large part of Dawson’s story throughout his stay on the successful series NBC.
Antonio Dawson presents himself as the moral compass of Chicago PD
While Voight was (and is not) above working outside the law to reach justice, Dawson is the opposite, turns out to be the group’s moral compass when his commander bypass him. This is the most obvious in the scenario that begins in “Homecoming” of season 5. Olinsky (Elias Koteas), the officer of the intelligence unit in prison after being linked to the murder of the man who killed the son of Voight (taking the proverbial ball for Voight), is killed in prison after being stabbed by an inmate, which did him at the request of Carlos Deleon (Jason Martinez). When the detainee is found seriously beaten and left bleeding on the ground, Dawson approaches Voight, who is at the start but admits that he did it, and if Dawson did not love him, he could withdraw from the investigation.

We cannot have enough of these 10 duos on “Chicago PD”
These partnerships are distinguished from the team.
Voight hunts Carlos, confronting him on a roof. Carlos, not armed, begs her life, but Voight draws him anyway – twice – the bar saying that he was looking for a firearm. Dawson finds a gun, but two witnesses saw Voight kill the man “in cold blood”. Dawson tries to discover the truth, disagreeing him with Ruzek (Patrick FLUERGER), who sees him as a well -deserved end for the man responsible for the death of Olinsky. When Dawson is called to the police committee to talk about what happened, he responds honestly, leading to a fight between him and Ruzek. Security images finally erase the Voight, But Dawson proved that he is not willing to break his moralityEven if it means placing another officer before the board of directors. This strength of character leads to mutual respect between the two.
Antonio Dawson has a shocking arc on “Chicago PD”
In season 6, Dawson was injured in the exercise of his functions and develops an addiction to the pain relievers while dealing with him. He offers protection to a drug trafficker in exchange for pills, but the man is anyway arrested, bringing his brother to kidnap Dawson’s daughter in revenge. Dawson finds him and in a rage fueled by drugs, Pushes man through a window. The act excluding alarm characteristic Voight, which confronts Dawson on this subject. He admits that he is a drug addict and, consequently, Ruzek assumes the death of the death of the man while Dawson receives the order to readjust. Upon his return, the shame of leaving Ruzek to resume the blame is overwhelming, and in the final of season 6, he relapse on pain relievers. During the premiere of season 7, he learned that Voight took Dawson to an outside book rehabilitation center, and in episode 3, he learned that Dawson resigned and moved to Puerto Rico to be with the family.
It was a shocking end for a favorite fans character, who deserved a better dispatch than he obtained. Now, with the new season is approaching, Chicago PD has a chance to correct this evil. Seda, for her part, is open to a return, saying: “As long as the show is still in progress, I am ready at any time. Antonio is still alive. If they wanted me to come back for an episode, or would come back, or whatever, I would be totally ready. I learned to never say.”
There is no reason why he cannot come back. The question is, should he? And the answer is a final yes. The intelligence unit has just passed through a tumultuous season, and Voight has once again used illegal means to reach the so-called “justice”. The team has lost its way, and the return of Dawson, a man entirely in control, would bring him back to moral centrality. Nor would he be afraid of calling Voight for his actions against Reid, and after having escaped the repercussions for so long, it may be time for someone to do.
