Sean Penn, Ann Lee, John Legend will be honored during the social impact summit

Sean Penn and Ann Lee, co-founders of Core, and John Legend will be honored at the second annual summit on the social impact in partnership with the Social Impact Fund, scheduled for July 24.
The event, co-organized by the social impact fund and The Hollywood Reporter, aims to inspire accessible and impactful philanthropy by decomposing obstacles to a significant change.
This half-day summit will bring together more than 500 culture manufacturers, production companies, talent agencies and notable characters from the entertainment and creation industries and beyond. The program will explore the dynamic evolution of philanthropy, emerging trends with challenges of charitable and navigation donations to make the impact possible.
Penn and Lee will be honored for their work with Core, or the rescue effort organized by the community, as a philanthropic organization of the year. Lee is CEO of the World Humanitarian Response Organization, which is dedicated to the empowerment of poorly served communities in and beyond the crisis. Organization’s programs focus on emergency interventions and preparation, approach climate change and access to health.
Core responded to natural disasters, conflicts, food insecurity, disease epidemics, climate change and public health emergencies on five continents. The organization has also focused on the ongoing humanitarian responses in Ukraine and Sudan in the midst of devastating conflicts, as well as help in the event of disaster and preparation for the Caribbean and coastal, it also holds an annual fundraising gala in Miami Art Basel, among other events.
In addition, legend will be honored as a philanthropic of the year. The artist-activist has spent more than a decade using his platform, his resources and his voice to advance equity and opportunities. In 2014, he launched Freeamerica, a national initiative working to end mass incarceration and strengthen communities by investment, advocacy and culture change. The two Freeamerica signature programs reflect the commitment of legend to a lasting change: to unlock future, which supports managers formerly incarcerated and calls into question the systems that stimulate imprisonment, and Humanlevel, which works with local governments to approach inequalities in housing, education, health and security, investing in workmates in progress to help in work of sustainable solutions.
Thanks to this work, legend has helped to extend the voting rights for those imprisoned and formerly imprisoned in 19 states and mobilize voters through national APA, local events and public advocacy; Previous legal reform by supporting successful efforts to put an end to the non -synanimous juries in Louisiana, to adopt laws on cations reform in New York, Texas and Illinois and to win key election initiatives through California, Florida and Louisiana elected Progressive prosecutors in more than two dozens of jurisdictions, now representing more than 50 million Americans; And invest in education equipment, starting with its launch in 2007 of the Show Me campaign to extend access to quality public schools and face the school pipeline.
