Alfie Wise, the actor of “Cannonball Run” and Burt Reynolds Sidekick, dies at 82

Alfie Wise, the longtime friend of Burt Reynolds, the film companion and the personal assistant who had 10 films of the film star, in particular “The Cannonball Run”, “Smokey and the Bandit” and “The Lonest Yard”, died of natural causes, according to Donohue Real Estate, the Palm Beach County Firm where he was an agent. He was 82 years old.

Wise, born Ralph Louis Wise in Pennsylvania, died on July 22.

The actor of a diminutive character with a big smile and a funny behavior was a must of Reynolds films, appearing for the first time in “The Lonest Yard” of 1974 as a state soldier; He also played a police officer in the 1977 hit “Smokey and the Bandit” and a towing driver in the comedy of the 1981 “” Cannonball Run “. Other Reynolds films included “Strooer Ace”, “Hooper”, “The End” and “Notik Over”.

“We are deeply saddened to share that our agent, Alfie Wise, has died,” wrote Donohue on Facebook. “Whenever there was a business meeting, Alfie was still there, smiling and chatting with everyone. Not only was Alfie a pleasure to work with a successful real estate agent, but he was an accomplished actor. He has often worked with his friend, Burt Reynolds, including in the classic film Smokey and the bandit.

Wise also struck on its own, with television roles on “The Fall Guy”, “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman” and “The Jeffers”. He played Mr. Rabbit’s ears to his acolish in the children’s television program in the mid -1970s “UNCLE CROC’s Block” and a paramedical ambulancer alongside Lou Ferrigno on the 1983 “Trauma Center” drama.

After a passage in the mid -1960s in the navy, Wise moved to Los Angeles, became a page in NBC and marked small roles in the pilots and unique episodes before meeting Reynolds.

He is survived by the longtime fiancée Stephanie Bliss.
