Scott Pelley says that the Trump regulation would be “harmful” to CBS

CBS News veteran Scott Pelley sounded the alarm on the possibility that Paramount Global reaches settlement in the unprecedented trial against CBS and “60 minutes” last year by President Donald Trump.
Pelley participated on a interview with CNN Anchor and his colleague “60 minutes”, Anderson Cooper, who followed the live television of CNN from Broadway play on Broadway “Good Night” on Saturday evening on Saturday evening. The play recounts the historic moment in 1954 when the legend of CBS News Edward R. Murrow challenged the Tapic of Senator Joseph McCarthy Senator at the height of anti-communist fear.
“The most important thing is to have the courage to speak, of not letting fear permeate the country so that everyone is silent,” said Pelley, who previously held the siege of Murrow as an ancestor of “CBS Evening News,” said the role that journalism plays in democracy.
“If you have the courage to speak, we are saved. If you are silent, the country is condemned,” he said. “This is the only thing that will save the country. You cannot have democracy without journalism. It cannot be done.”
On the delicate subject of Global Paramount and Trump trial, Pelley left no doubt where he is. A financial settlement or apologies for paramount for the president would be a hard blow for the principles of American journalism. Pelley said that a regulation would be “very detrimental to CBS, Paramount, the reputation of these companies”.
Pelley noted the similar dynamics earlier this year when the Trump administration has put pressure on the main law firms to contribute to pro bono work with the causes approved by Trump – or to face decrees to target their businesses.
“I think that many of the law firms that have made agreements with the White House are at this very moment to regret it. It does not look like their best hour,” said Pelley.
