Scott Eastwood says Taylor Swift ‘called me out of the blue’ to be in ‘Wildest Dreams’ video

When Taylor Swift called years ago, Scott Eastwood answered — but he didn’t really know who was on the other end of the line.
Speaking with the Associated Press alongside Mason Thames and Dave Franco, his costars in the upcoming romantic drama I miss you, Eastwood, 39, recalls how Swift, 35, contacted him to offer the role of his love interest in the video for her 2015 track “Wildest Dreams.”
The topic came up when the reporter noted that Eastwood seemed to have the most romantic credits under his belt, including the time he romanced Swift in the Billboard Hot 100 top 5 music video.

“Scott, I don’t know if you know, did anyone tell you that we all watched the ‘Wildest Dreams’ video on set?,” Franco said, prompting Eastwood, who also appeared in the 2015 film. The longest journey and 2017 Walk of fameto admit that he didn’t know it.
Their co-star Mckenna Grace, “I didn’t realize you were the guy [in ‘Wildest Dreams’]”, Franco continued. “Like it’s a video that’s close to her heart, and she made it in the moment: Scott is the guy from the ‘Wildest Dreams’ video. She immediately called her mother. She says “Scott’s the guy.” And we hear his mother on the phone saying, “No! » You have a place in the hearts of many people with this video.
Eastwood said someone recently asked him what the experience was like and remembered how Swift cold-called him. “I’d never met Taylor Swift before. She called me out of the blue. She said, ‘Hey, it’s Taylor.’ I’m like Taylor, who? he said. ”Taylor Swift.'”

In the video, Eastwood and Swift played actors filming a romantic film set in an African landscape.
Director Joseph Kahn, who also worked with Swift on her videos for “Blank Space” and “Bad Blood,” previously said he based the video “on classic Hollywood romances like Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, as well as classic films like The African Queen, Out of Africa And The English patientjust to name a few.

In the years since making the video, Eastwood has spoken about the “good memories” he has of his time with Swift, as he told E! News in 2023.
“Taylor Swift has become the biggest star in the world,” he said, acknowledging that they don’t stay in touch. “She has a whole tour to do. She doesn’t need to talk to me.” (Swift launched her Eras tour in March 2023.)

“I’m glad I did it, because people told me not to do it at the time,” he added of the video. His response to these opponents? “Taylor Swift is cool.”
