School closures delayed due to threat of snow

LIST: Schools closed, delayed due to imminent snow threat
ALL RIGHT. As for your forecast, I know right now you’re probably looking out the window saying there’s no snow there. I think I’ll be fine tomorrow. IT HAPPENS. YEAH. I hope you’re not like that, bear. AND FIND YOURSELF IN RESTRICTED SPACES TOMORROW. You know, so allow extra time for that morning commute. I THINK SOME CHILDREN WILL BE VERY HAPPY TOMORROW WITH THIS FORECAST, BUT HERE’S A LIVE SNAPSHOT FROM FOUNTAIN SQUARE. And it’s kind of hard to see. BUT IF YOU LOOK INTO THE CAMERA, OR SHOULD I SAY IF YOU LOOK AT THE LIGHT AT THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN, YOU’RE LOOKING VERY CLOSE. YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE SOME SMALL FLAKES NOW STARTING TO REACH THE GROUND. We need time to humidify the atmosphere. There’s a lot of dry air in place, so it’s been slow to start, but I probably suspect that by the time you go to bed tonight, you know, in the middle of the night, at two, three, 4 o’clock, you’re looking out. I think you will be surprised. IT IS EXPECTED TO SNOW AT A PRETTY GOOD CLIPS OVER MUCH OF THE AREA AS I STILL EXPECT WE WILL HAVE A FEW POCKETS OF HEAVIER SNOW OVERNIGHT. LOCATION. ALL RIGHT. YOU CAN SEE THE SPOTTED NATURE OF THE SNOW ON THE RADAR. This is because it combats the dry air there. But we are gradually humidifying the atmosphere. So again, you can see directly above downtown, we showed you Fountain Square. THERE IS SNOW. There are heavier pockets towards Oceana and Ross. I STILL THINK WE’RE MAYBE AN HOUR OR TWO, MAYBE THREE, EVEN FAR FROM GETTING REGULAR, GENERATED, IMPACTIVE SNOW THROUGHOUT THE AREA. IT’S JUST KIND OF WARM UP LIKE YOU SEE TOWARDS MOUNT AUBURN, GEORGETOWN, BATAVIA. NEW RICHMOND, I KNOW A LOT OF CHILDREN. IF YOU’RE LIKE ME, YOU TRY TO WAIT TO STAY UP TO SEE THE SNOW. I still think it will probably be a few hours before it gets really dark, but what I want to show you is that the back edge of the snow is still west of St. Louis. OK, so that means, at least, we still have six hours of snow ahead of us. ALL RIGHT. AND IF YOU LOOK AT THE RADAR, YOU SEE HOW THESE SCRATCHES APPEAR TOWARDS SAINT LOUIS. This is what we call a kind of banded snow. AND THAT’S WHY AS WE’RE GOING WITH A GENERAL 2 TO 4, AND MOST OF WE WILL END UP WITH TWO, THREE INCHES OF SNOW, MAYBE FOUR THERE. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone goes over just a little. TEMPERATURES ARE AT OR BELOW FREEZING IN MOST CASES, SO VERY COLD FOR ANY SNOW THERE. THIS IS HIGH IMPACT SNOW. NOT BECAUSE WE’RE ONLY EXPECTING A TON OF SNOW, BUT BECAUSE OF THE COLD GROUND AND THE CALENDAR. WITH A FEW moderate to occasionally heavy snow flurries just before the morning commute starts. THIS WILL LEAVE ROADS, BRIDGES, OVERPASSES, ANYTHING COVERED IN SNOW AND SLIPPERY. AND AS I MENTIONED, I STILL THINK WE’RE CURRENT IN TERMS OF SNOWFALL WHICH AMONG 2 TO 4 INCHES OF SNOW. SOMEONE COULD BE MONITORING AND GET UP TO FIVE. BUT I THINK MOST OF US ARE IN THAT 2 TO 3, 3 TO 4 INCHES RANGE. SO HERE IS FUTURECAST. NOTICE IT’S 130. AND START NOTICE SOME OF THE DARKER BLUE APPEARING. There’s a mix here in the south. BUT I REALLY THINK IT WILL BE MOSTLY SNOW, EVEN IN OUR SOUTHERNMOST COMMUNITIES. Let’s move forward a little. YOU SEE THIS 4 AM, YOU SEE HOW MUCH DARKER THESE BLUE ARE. AND IF YOU USE YOUR IMAGINATION, THERE ARE TYPES OF FEATURES IN GROUPS HERE. I think for several hours in the morning, probably before the drive, it will snow at a good time. SO, I THINK WE’LL SEE IT GET OUT OF STUNNING PRETTY QUICKLY. AND THEN BETWEEN ABOUT SIX AND EIGHT, IT LOOKS LIKE THE SNOW IS GOING TO END. AND I THINK WE HAVE EFFECTS THAT LAST EVEN UNTIL THE AFTERNOON TOMORROW, AS WE WILL BE RATHER CLOUDY AND THE TEMPERATURES WILL STILL BE BELOW FREEZING. SO WE’RE BACK DOWNTOWN. YOU CAN SEE THE ACTION OF FLURRY ACTUALLY INCREASING A LITTLE BIT THERE. 32 NOW WITH LIGHT SNOW ALSO REPORTED AT THE AIRPORT. SO FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT, IT’S ALL ABOUT SNOW AND TEMPERATURES GOING DOWN TO THE MID 20’S. WE SHOULD ARRIVE AROUND 10:26 PM FIRST THING TOMORROW MORNING. NEEDLESS TO SAY, LEAVE YOURSELF A LITTLE EXTRA TIME TOMORROW MORNING IF YOU’RE TRAVELING IN THE AREA, AS IT WILL BE A LITTLE DIFFICULT START TO THE DAY. TEMPERATURES WILL AGAIN REMAIN BELOW FREEZING THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON. HERE’S AN OVERVIEW OF YOUR PLANNER. So I suspect that side street roads that aren’t traveled as often will likely remain covered in snow for a while. AND ONCE WE PUT THIS SNOW ON THE GROUND, YOU KNOW THE NEXT 1 TO 2 WEEKS ARE PRETTY COLD ENOUGH FOR US. SO THE SNOW WILL NOT BE HAPPY TO MELT. AND ACTUALLY, YOU KNOW, I THINK THESE TEMPERATURES ARE A LITTLE BIT CONSERVATIVE EVEN AT NIGHT, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. I should say that I think we may have a hard time getting back above freezing this week. If we do, it’ll probably only be at 35 or 36, so not too high there. AND THESE LOWS OVERNIGHT, AS I MENTIONED, COULD BE COLDER WITH THIS SNOW ON THE GROUND. AND THIS MAY LOOK LIKE ANOTHER SERIES OF IMPACTED SNOW ACCUMULATION.
