Scattered showers and storms again Thursday, but for how long?

The showers and dispersed storms are expected to continue on Thursday, with the best chance of performing in the afternoon and in the evening.

An opinion of the floods is in force for the county of Harris until 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for Polk counties, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Chambers, Liberty and Houston. This flood warning will remain in force until Monday morning.

Thursday forecasts:

Houston people should keep an umbrella at hand, especially in the afternoon. These chances of rain are “struck”, so everyone will not see a downpour, but it is wise to look at the sky while the day warms up.

The best chance for storms are expected after 1 p.m., with rainy percentages on Thursday 40%, Friday at 30% and 20% by Saturday. Most of these storms should be brief, with the greatest activity probably in the afternoon and evening.

After a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms on Thursday, the weather in Houston and southeast Texas should be much hoter and drier.

Drier days to come:

The high pressure that causes extreme heat in the northeast will begin to return to the west, reducing the chances of rain until the end of June.

Tropical follow -up:

No active development expected over the next 7 days. The Saharan dust continues to move through the Atlantic basin and a plume could reach the Texas on Sunday and Monday which could reduce air quality.

Remember that the Atlantic Hurricane season lasts until November. Here in SE Texas, we see the top of the tropical season in September, but we can see a storm at any time in the fall. Last year, Hurricane Beryl hit Earth early in the morning on July 8.
