A new report indicates that the mandate of the Smackdown Santos Escobar superstar with WWE could end.
According to Fightful, the contract for Legado Del Fantasma chief should exhale “very soon”. The report also suggests that the current belief is that Escobar should not sign a new agreement to stay with the company, which potentially makes it one of the most publicized free agents in the near future.

Pwinsider.com reports that the agreement is in place at midnight, and despite the offers to keep it, Escobar refused them. Speculation surrounding the future of Escobar has intensified by a recent publication of social media from the superstar itself.
On the X platform, Escobar published an image of itself with only an emoji hourglass as legend. This type of position is often used by professional wrestlers to point out that time is exhausted on their current contract, and it immediately fueled the discussion between fans on a potential WWE outing. The fighting report could not confirm whether WWE and Escobar had started discussions concerning a contract extension.
The disappearance of Santos Escobar
Despite his health, Escobar was used sparingly on WWE television throughout 2025. He only participated in three games on Smackdown this year. His other appearances include a place in the annual Royal Rumble match, a performance at the special event “AAA X WWE Worlds” in Los Angeles, and two unavied games at live WWE events in Mexico. This brings its total number of games for the year to only seven.

This period of inactivity occurred at a time when some thought that the whole Legado del Fantasma faction could be ready for a more important role. The comrades of Stable of Escobar, Los Garza, recently organized the championship of the World team of the AAA, but their reign was short -lived. After only two months, they lost the titles for the benefit of the Pagano team and Psycho Clown in a street fight during the event “Triplemanía XXXIII”. With the status of the Escobar contract now in question, the future of the remaining members of the WWE stable is not clear.
