Saint-Louis: Lightning flood warning issued after strong precipitation

Several roads have been affected, including the Interstate 70 in the eastern direction, which was closed to Bircher and Salisbury.

ST. Louis-Parties of the Saint-Louis region, including the city of St. Louis, were under a flash flood warning Tuesday afternoon while strong showers caused between 2 and 3 inches of precipitation in a short time.

The National Weather Service of St. Louis issued a flash flood warning until 6:30 p.m. for certain parts of St. Louis, the county of St. Louis and the county of St. Charles in Missouri and the county of St. Clair and the county of Madison in Illinois.

The Metropolitan Police Service of St. Louis said shortly before 4 p.m. that the Interstate 70 in the direction was closed to Bircher and Salisbury due to the floods.

Several roads in St. Louis became ponds on Tuesday afternoon, including the intersection of avenue Chouteau and boulevard South Tucker, where a vehicle was blocked in deep waters. Sudden floods also had an impact on the areas of highways 44, 55 and 64 near the city center of Saint-Louis, and at the Interstate 55/64 SPLIT in East St. Louis.

The Saint-Louis fire service reminded the public to never cross stagnant water, adding that only 6 inches of water can calm a car and a water foot can sweep it.
