SAG-AFTRA reveals the first details on the DEAL video game

SAG-AFTRA published the first details on the provisional agreement concluded with the companies signed with the interactive media agreement after the National Council of the Guild approved the agreement for a vote of ratification of the members.

Among the details revealed were protection against the exploitation of generative artificial intelligence, a problem which was the only momentum of the guild strike which lasted 320 days.

As part of the New Deal, companies must have the informed consent of artists for all ways in which AI is planned to be used on their voice, their resemblance and their movements. Artists also have the capacity to suspend the consent of companies to use AI to create replicas of their work during a strike.

Minimum rates will also be established for the use of digital replicas created with performance covered by a union. If these performances are created for “real -time generation” purposes – that is to say, the creation of a digital chatbot in Voix de Réplia in a video game – the interpreter is entitled to at least 7.5 times this minimum scale.

Apart from AI, the agreement provides an increase made up of the remuneration of 15.17% during ratification plus an increase of 3% in November in the next three years. In addition, the maximum rate of overtime for overlastic artists will now be based on a double scale. Health and retirement contribution rates at the SAG-AFTRA health plan will be from 16.5% to 17% during ratification and 17.5% in October 2026.

SAG-AFTRA has also negotiated the security requirements, including a requirement for a qualified professional to be present or easily available during rehearsals and performance during which dangerous shares or working conditions are provided. Rest periods are now provided for the main artists on the camera and employers can no longer ask the artists of waterfalls or another dangerous activity in virtual hearings.

The complete terms of the proximity agreement will be published on June 18. Eligible members will then have until July 9 at 5 p.m. PT to vote on the opportunity to ratify the agreement.
