Dewald Brevis, Aiden Markram fetch fetch record bids at SA20 Auction
South Africa’s T20 superstars were in high demand at the SA20 Auction on Tuesday. Aiden Markram set the ball rolling as Durban Super Giants and Sunrisers Eastern Cape went big for the South African T20 captain. Markram led SEC to two SA20 titles and had a fine show in IPL 2025. His stocks rose after a century for the Proteas in their WTC win over Australia. The RPSG group, who own both Lucknow and Durban franchises, made the record bid, snapping him up for R14 million. For context, the previous record bid for SA20 was R9.2 million.
However, Markram’s record lasted for about 5 minutes. Dewald Brevis followed in the list and another bidding frenzy ensued. Brevis plays for CSK in the IPL and their sister franchise Joburg Super Kings were in the running. However, ultimately it was the Pretoria Capitals who forked out the record bid for the 22-year-old. Nicknamed Baby AB, Brevis set the record for the youngest T20i Centurion from South Africa in the Australia T20Is.
