Ryan Mason: West Brom announces sacking of former Tottenham midfielder after seven months in charge at The Hawthorns | Football news

West Brom have sacked Ryan Mason after seven months in charge.

The 34-year-old signed a three-year contract with The Hawthorns in June.

The decision comes just hours after the Baggies’ 2-1 defeat to Leicester, a result which leaves them 18th after six defeats in the last eight Sky Bet Championship matches.

A statement published on the club’s official website read: “West Bromwich Albion have today parted ways with men’s first team head coach, Ryan Mason.

“Assistant head coach Nigel Gibbs and first team coach/performance manager Sam Pooley have also left the Hawthorns.

“The club would like to thank Ryan, Nigel and Sam for their efforts and wish all three the best for the future.

“First team coach, James Morrison, will oversee first team affairs on an interim basis until a new staff is appointed.

“The process of recruiting a new head coach and staff for the men’s first team is underway.”
