Ryan Giggs’s 2011 comments on Liverpool and Man Utd returned

The legend of Manchester United, Ryan Giggs, made a huge prediction concerning his former club and Liverpool in 2011, and they come back to haunt him now.

Liverpool and Man Utd’s success spells

The Red Devils and the Reds remain the two biggest clubs in English football, taking advantage of a great rivalry through history and having different periods of success.

Liverpool was at the top for a large part of the 1970s and 1980s, winning first division titles and the glory of the European Cup, but their time of glory ended around 1990, before United became the dominant force in the Premier League.

For almost 20 years, they reigned on the perch, even if people like Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal also experienced solid periods, and he had the impression that they would not go nowhere with Sir Alex Ferguson in charge.

Since the departure of the Scottish, however, United has fallen spectacularly, not winning the League since 2013 and was often a laughing stock, while Liverpool returned to the top, winning two Premier League titles in the last five years.

Bold Man Utd and Liverpool of Giggs in 2011

Speaking in 2011, Giggs boldly said that Manchester United would never collapse and disappear like Liverpool after a period of domination, which, with hindsight, ended up appearing stupid.

“Our manager is not always looking for this season. He buys players for the future, which he has done more and more in recent years. He has bought players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Anderson and Nani – all the young players who have had the capacity to continue and be better, and who all did this.

“Now, we have the next lot, like Javier Hernandez, Rafael and Fabio Da Silva, Gabriel Obertan and Chris Smalling, all the young players who, hopefully, will improve in the coming years. The manager is sufficiently experienced to know that we will be difficult for the league this season and long after the core of the squad.

It is fair to say that Gigg’s comments now seem stupid, given that the period of domination of United in the 1990s and 2000s has been over for a long time, not having won a title of the Premier League for 12 years.

Liverpool is now streets in front of their rivals, excelling under Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot, and it seems that long before United could not compete again for the best honors.

The story has shown that the Reds and the Red Devils are far too large do not disappear forever, and there is every chance that United be back at a given time.

Liverpool could just do without one of their current players trying fate as Giggs did all these years ago.
