Salmonella’s epidemic has been established with imported imported pistachio cream

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that an epidemic of Salmonella Oranienburg was finished with pistachio cream.
The CDC identified four patients in the epidemic, one in Minnesota and three in New Jersey. One of the patients had hospitalization. The last start of the disease was May 19.
There were probably many more sick people in the epidemic because the CDC reports that for each patient documented in Salmonella epidemics, 29 are not detected. Indeed, some people do not look for medical care and others are not specifically tested for salmonella infection.
The epidemic involved Emek Pistachio Cream manufactured by Emek Dogal Saglik Urunleri Iklim Gida Insaat San Tic Ltd Sti in Türkiye. The company recalled the product on July 19. The sequencing of the whole genome of the product made positive results for Salmonella. The product recalled should no longer be available for sale, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
It is to be feared that consumers have not opened the pots of the product recalled because its expiration date is only on October 19, 2026.
In addition to tests and later recall by the manufacturer, the Minnesota Ministry of Agriculture and the Maryland Ministry of Health have collected samples from other EMEK brand products containing pistachio cream that were available for sale in retail locations of the World Market. The samples were tested positive for Salmonella. In response, the global market has initiated a reminder of the EMEK 9.7 Oz cocoa pistachio cream with Kadayif. This product was sold in glass jars of 9.7 Oz with lot N °: 250401, UPC number 8 69652 10130 1, and a date better before April 1, 2027.
In addition to the sampling carried out by state partners, the Food and Drug Administration has collected import samples of EMEK brand products containing pistachio cream. Salmonella was detected in the Emek Spreads cocoa pistachio cream with kadayif as well as EMEK pistachio cream.
The products of Emek Dogal Saglik Urunleri Iklim Gida Insaat San Tic Ltd STI have been placed on Alert 99-43, and the partners of the FDA and the State carry out follow-up with the company and their importers to solve this problem.
On Salmonella infections
Foods contaminated by Salmonella bacteria do not look, do not feel, nor the spoiled taste. Anyone can become sick of a salmonella infection. Infants, children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are more at risk of serious illness because their immune system is fragile, according to the CDC.
Anyone who has eaten one of the pistachio creams recalled and has developed symptoms of salmonella infection should consult a doctor. Patients should inform their doctors of the possible exposure to salmonella bacteria, as special tests are necessary to diagnose salmonellosis. Salmonella infection symptoms can imitate other diseases, frequently leading to an erroneous diagnosis.
Symptoms of salmonella infection may include diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever within 12 to 72 hours after eating contaminated foods. Otherwise, healthy adults are generally sick for four to seven days. In some cases, however, diarrhea can be so serious that patients need hospitalization.
Older adults, children, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems, such as cancer patients, are more likely to develop serious disease and serious, sometimes fatal conditions.
Some people are infected without falling ill or obviously symptoms. However, they can still disseminate infections to others.
