RUMOR: New details about the Punisher’s mysterious female partner in SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY revealed

Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) was recently rumored to be working alongside a mysterious female co-star in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, who will serve as a stand-in for The Punisher as he attempts to take down Mac Gargan, aka The Scorpion (Michael Mando), during what is considered the film’s opening action scene.
A number of female characters joined forces with Castle in the comics and even wore the vigilante’s iconic skull logo as “Lady Punisher”, including Jenny Cesare, Lynn Michaels and Rachel Cole-Alves.
Many fans seem to think that Cole-Alves is the most likely possibility given his strong alliance with Castle in the comics, but John Rocha shared a key detail about The Punisher’s partner during last night’s episode. The hot mic this will certainly open up speculation to a wider range of characters.
Rocha has heard that Castle’s “sidekick” is actually a black woman. Now, there’s always a chance that one of the above characters could be reinvented, but is there a chance it could be Detective Mercedes Kelly “Misty” Knight?
This character was previously played by Simone Missick in the Netflix Marvel shows and has become a fan favorite. Knight also teamed up with Castle in the comics and introduced (or reintroduced) her in Brand new day could lay the groundwork for a future Heroes for Hire project.
There are obviously plenty of other possibilities, so be sure to let us know what you think in the comments section below.
Spider-Man: A Whole New Day will also star Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk and Tramell Tillman in an undisclosed role. Sadie Sink’s role remains a mystery, but we’ve heard there will be a kind of twist relating to his character.
Returning alongside Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds.
“I spend my time exploring the next stage of this incredible character with a team of the most incredible artists in the world,” director Destin Daniel Cretton said at CinemaCon. “We’re all interested on a daily basis in the costume, how to swing, how to create an event, a moving story and a ride that we’ve never really seen before.”
“It’s day one – my fourth day on Spider-Man.” Holland said in the recently released BTS video. “You know, it’s funny. Putting on the costume, it’s different this time, somehow. It’s also the first time we’ve had fans on set on the first day, so it’s really exciting to share that with them. We have some familiar faces on set. You know, I’m just going to do my best, hope it goes well. No pressure.”
Spider-Man 4 was pushed back one week from July 24, 2026 to July 31, 2026.
