RUMOR: AVENGERS: SECRET WARS with Spider-Man, Wolverine and many others in the main roles
While all eyes are currently on that of next December Avengers: Apocalypseit is impossible to get rid of the feeling that Avengers: Secret Wars will be the most important film.
doomsday is sure to feature some big surprises, but when it comes to multiversal cameos and dream teams, Secret Wars will surely deliver. If a new rumor from Daniel Richtman is to be believed, it will start with the four leads we can expect to see take center stage in the 2027 blockbuster.
It reports that Tom Holland (Peter Parker/Spider-Man), Tobey Maguire (Peter Parker/Spider-Man), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) will all play major roles in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Maguire was rumored to appear in Avengers: Apocalypsejust like Jackman and Reynolds. Holland is expected to be absent from the film, but the Spider-Man: All New The Day Star is expected to be a focal point in a story that could finally see Earth-616’s web-slinger get his alien costume.
We can of course only speculate on what each of these characters will bring to the table. However, Maguire and Jackman standing side by side – let alone a Spider-Man/Deadpool team-up – is not something any of us could have imagined when Avengers: Endgame was released in 2019.
Avengers: Secret Wars will likely be Maguire’s final turn as Spider-Man. Jackman and Reynolds are very likely to appear in the rebooted MCU, and Holland is expected to star in at least two more solo outings before potentially passing the baton to Miles Morales.
“Our love of Marvel is built on the books we read as kids, the books we fell in love with,” Joe Russo has already declared. “The show we loved growing up was Secret Wars. It’s incredibly ambitious. It would be bigger than Infinity War and Endgame. But it’s a massive undertaking.”
“Those two films were very difficult to make. So to try to imagine making two other films even bigger than these two? We’re going to have to sleep on that,” he added. he noted, before Anthony intervened, “It would be the biggest movie imaginable, so that’s what really excites us about the story: its ambition is even bigger than that of the Infinity Saga.”
The confirmed casting of Avengers: Secret Wars includes Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie, Sadie Sink, Benedict Cumberbatch, Letitia Wright, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Paul Bettany and Hayley Atwell.
Avengers: Apocalypse is scheduled to be released on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars expected to arrive on December 17, 2027.
