Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli will bring the “ calm ” for Shubman Gill on the beginnings of Captain Odi, said Finch

Gill was Captain India in an ODI for the first time on October 19 against Australia at the Perth stadium.
Former Australia captain Aaron Finch thinks Shubman Gill won’t find leading India in ODI cricket tough. The 26-year-old was named successor to Rohit Sharma on October 4, as the selectors decided to plan for the 2027 Cricket World Cup.
Rohit-Kohli to help Gill
Finch reckons having Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli by his side will help Gill learn things on the go. It’ll be similar to what MS Dhoni did for Kohli and Rohit. Gill can always lean on them during pressure moments.
The modern greats may not be captains, but they are leaders. Still young, especially when it comes to captaincy at the international level, Gill can learn quite a lot from Rohit and Kohli.
“I think just having those guys (Rohit and Kohli) there will be a real calmness for him (Gill) as well, because it’s the ability to bounce ideas, both on and off the field, on how you want the team to function going forward, because they’ve been such a huge part of the team for a long period of time,” Finch told ICC Digital from Colombo.

Australia to win ODI series, says Finch
Asked about what the outcome of the India vs Australia ODI series would be, Finch leaned towards the home side. He reckons it’ll be strongly contested, and Australia will clinch it 2-1 in the end.
“It will be a great series. It always is against India, and I think having Virat back in there brings out the best in him against Australia. It’s always a great battle when you look at it on paper, as it’s very evenly matched, but I’d say Australia (wins the series) 2-1. Not confidently though, as India are a great side and it will just be a great series to watch,” he added.
