Rohit Sharma was escorted by security into the stadium on Day 3 of the IND vs ENG 5th Test. The former India captain watched along from the stands in what was a productive session for the Men in Blue. Jaiswal once his opening partner continued to carry his good form on Day 3 morning. Akash Deep smashed his maiden Test 50 having joined last night as a nightwatchman.
The Oval will bring bittersweet memories to Rohit Sharma. India lost the World Test Championship final to Australia at the same venue in 2023. Rohit was captain then, having taken over from Virat Kohli. In 2021, he played one of his great test knocks with a century at this ground. India went onto win the match, only their 2 win at The Oval in history.
Rohit will be next seen in action after the Asia Cup 2025. The 38-year-old is India’s captain in ODIs still and will feature when India face Australia. The Hit-Man intends to play on until the 2027 World Cup, which takes place in South Africa.
