Robby-Langdon tension before sabbatical

It’s a Brand New Day at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center in HBO Max’s Official Season 2 Trailer The Pitt.
The preview, released Tuesday, shows Dana, Katherine LaNasa’s charge nurse, returning after she was ready to call it quits at the end of a particularly grueling shift, during which she was punched in the face by a patient, during the first season.
To indicate how she dealt with her desire to leave, she is shown to have “made time” but “who else is going to get this place until the 4th of July”, as she looks out at the crowded waiting room.
Patrick Ball’s Dr. Langdon also returns after being kicked out of the hospital near the end of the first season after it was discovered he was abusing and stealing drugs. Even though Taylor Dearden’s Mel is excited to see Langdon, there’s still tension between the returning doctor and Noah Wyle’s Robby, who asks Langdon to cover the triage.
“We can cover for you. We’ve been doing it for months,” Robby told him.
Elsewhere, Robby, who says he’s about to take a “little sabbatical,” is shown having tense interactions with his “replacement,” Dr. Al-Hashimi (new cast member Sepideh Moafi).
After being interrupted by an ambulance while trying to tell him her ideas for improving the service, Robby told her: “You’re a very empathetic soul but this is the emergency, it’s not for the faint of heart.” »
She answers: “What do you need to regain some basic empathy. »
Amidst this and photos of the doctors dealing with various traumas, Dana and Dr. Abbot (Shawn Hatosy) indicate that Robby might be dealing with some demons he hasn’t faced yet.
Abbot tells Robby that his break is going to involve “a lot of time to think. Are you sure you can handle this?”
Robby shrugs and grimaces.
The trailer also suggests that the doctors may have to face some technical difficulties, as a voiceover says that “Westbridge Hospital has turned off all computer systems.”
Regarding what appears to be a computer crash, Robby says they are “going analog.”
The Pitt returns to HBO Max almost exactly a year after its premiere, debuting Thursday, January 8 at 9 p.m., with new episodes of the 15-episode season each week leading up to the April 16 finale.
The cast also includes superya superya Ganesh (Dr. Mohan), Fiana Dourif (Dr. McKiy), Isa Brines (Dr. Santos), Jeron Howhitaker and Shabana Azeez (Javadi).
It was previously revealed that the second season of The Pitt would take place 10 months after the first season, over the Fourth of July weekend, giving Robby and the other characters time to deal with issues arising from the mass shooting and other incidents that occurred during the first season.
After Robby suffered a seizure near the end of the first season, Wyle and creator R. Scott Gemmill announced that the second season would feature him seeking treatment for his own trauma as well as a larger “healing journey,” as Gemmill puts it.
The Pittwhich won five Emmy Awards, including best drama series and acting awards for Wyle and LaNasa for its first season, is executive produced by Gemmill, Wyle, John Wells, Michael Hissrich, Erin Jontow and Simran Baidwan.
