THE When Harry Met Sally The director and his wife of 36 years were found dead at their Los Angeles home on Dec. 14, with a source telling NBC News the couple appeared to have suffered stab wounds.
The gruesome discovery led responding officers to determine that the Reiners “were the victims of a homicide,” according to a Los Angeles Police Department press release issued Dec. 15.
“The investigation further revealed that Nick Reinerthe 32-year-old son of Robert and Michele Reiner, is responsible for their deaths,” authorities continued in their press release. “He was incarcerated for murder and remains in custody without bail.”
As for the events leading up to Nick’s arrest? It appears that the screenwriter clashed with Rob, 78, the day before his arrest. As several sources have said Peoplethe father-son duo had an argument at Conan O’BrienChristmas celebration on December 13.
Friends of the family also confirmed the dispute, telling the Los Angeles Times that party guests noticed Nick, who Rob shared with Michele with children Jake Reiner34 years old, and Romy Reiner27 years old – acting strange.
