Revue ‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva’: Hang your disbelief for a good time

In “NCIS: Tony & Ziva”, presented Thursday on Paramount +, two popular characters in the military procedure of CBS “NCIS”, were brought back after several years and received their own series. Michael Weatherly and Pablo’s rating, as special anthony agents “Tony” Dinozzo and Ziva David, therefore occupied the romantic fantasies of viewers that their names were Portmancants in “Tiva”. (You can find thousands of cases of fan fiction on the theme of Tiva online.) As for the will, they will not make a relationship, they finally did it, before they do it, and now they have a 12 -year -old daughter, Tali (Isla GIE), that they are amicable.

I looked at the deductible from time to time, professionally, because new iterations have extended the length and extent of the brand, which is technically recovered in “Jag”, from which it was extinguished. But I will not even try to pretend to have real expertise in the adventures of a large rotary cast on 22 seasons. (It has been renewed for a 23rd.) But I respect the institution – whose original has been and can now be the most watched series in America – and its longevity, because I will salute your long wedding.

At the same time, once you know the basic premise of the show – it is an elite military police procedure – it is not difficult to determine where you are, wherever you are.

Unlike the previous “NCIS” series, all based on broadcast television, “Tony & Ziva” is a platform on Paramount +, which means that the characters pronounce a bad word from time to time – it does not become much more nervous than that, and despite the sexual heat, it is hardly racy – and that there is a budget that allows foreign and major action scenes. And where the previous programs, despite the long arcs of the learned opera, are fundamentally episodic, “Tony & Ziva” is a series story, stretched over 10 episodes. Whether stretched out, we will have to wait and see; Only four out of 10 episodes were offered for examination.

The combo of the fight against the crime of a naughty guy and a girl without frills is familiar with “Moonlighting” and “Castle”. Even the fact that the title joins Tony and Ziva with an amperee and not an “and” indicates a certain lightness of tone, and when Tony, speaking of his business, “we try to walk this fine line between the Thriller Techno and comedy in the workplace”, it is, of course, describing the even series in which it kept what kept team procedures.

Given that the American brand has not been as toxic, international and national, since the era of Vietnam, perhaps, and that the “NCIS” series shows in the world, it is as well as the alleged villains are (apparently) the anti-American and hateful actors of freedom that we often find in these things, but not the timeless actors of obligation and freedom.

In addition, the series – whose previous iterations have been based in Washington, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Hawaii, Sydney and, in the prequel of last year, “NCIS: Origins”, Exotic Oceanside, in California – takes place in Paris, where, having become civil, Ziva has opened a sophisticated language school and Tony high -end. (Among its customers: Interpol. You cannot become more European than that.) With easy access to croissants and coffee in milk, our heroes have the benefit of not having to wax a patriotic on a country in which they no longer live. It’s very 2025.

The MacGuffin of the series is a magic thumb reader who, when connected to a computer system, can apparently do anything; Having him, therefore, is a problem for good and bad, in the respective hands of which he enters and goes out. When the bad guys use it to supervise Tony to extort money from a hospital and threaten the life of Tali, Tony and Ziva are brought back into a life of racing, shooting, reckless driving and punches. “Two words,” said Tony, observing Ziva dismantle a thug ending his daughter. “Jewish mother.”

More importantly, he puts the pair in the race together – the opening episodes find them (ostensibly and / or really) in France, Italy, Switzerland and Hungary – and in constant narrow districts, where the old tender feelings simmer and the question of sharing a bed is posed, as in the “39 stages”, the greatest of all innocent novels and on the race.

Ziva, whose pre -NCIS employment was as an assassin for Israeli secret services – perhaps not the best job for a television heroine to have on her curriculum vitae these days, but this is not a problem here – hung on to Arsenal and plural houses. (“I have already told you how much I appreciate your paranoia?” Tony said to him.) And they both kept their old ncis badges, which they will flash to dazzle the security guards and others.

Along the way, they collect Boris (Maximilian Osinski), a non-aligned Russian pirate who made the MacGuffin in the first place, and his fiancée turzouillis fruzsi (Anne-Marie Waldeck), which provide both the comedy and the image of a healthy and all-to-contrast romantic relationship with that of our hesitant heroes. The ranks are the ranks of Tali, Sophie (Lara Rossi), and the Whiz of Tony’s resident technology, Claudette (Amicita Suman), because you can no longer trace a thriller without a computer at the center of things. Under Tony’s friend and Tali’s godfather, Interpol Henry’s executive (James d’Arcy) is the kind of character you expect to be bad, although he is in the air. I will not say more about Martine (Nassima Benchicou), apart from this benchou is very good to be very bad.

Created by John McNamara (“The Magicians”), which was not previously part of the “NCIS” world, “Tony & Ziva” can be quite absurd, depending on the suspensions of disbelief, or a spectator just not thinking not too hard. This does not distinguish it from many scenarios of this type, and the series does not fear gender tropes – the car through a market, a fight with a big bruiser with a apparently unbeatable white head. Indeed, he kisses them.

But what makes the spectacle that is worth watching is meteorological and Pablo, two extremely attractive average age with real chemistry; He is super-heroically imperturbable without ever seeing nothing but an ordinary Joe. She is sad and serious and not to be spoiled. They were there; They brought edges, and when they meet, it generates something authentically soft, as real as the rest of the series is improbable. There is a reason for all this fan-fiction.
