The Harry Potter HBO show must finally adapt Vernon meeting the wizards before Harry’s first arrival
The first chapter of Harry Potter and the sorcerer stone sees a day in Vernon Dursley’s life, the man who would soon become Harry’s adoptive father. The day begins normally, but while Mr. Dursley goes from his house, he begins to notice strange things, like a cat reading a card and people who walk in shiny capes.
It was the day Voldemort was defeated and the potters sacrificed themselves for their son. Later in the evening, Albus Dumbledore arrives to leave Harry with the Dursley, who is shown as the starting sequence of the Harry Potter Movies. However, the previous scene was cut off from history.
Of course, this is not the most crucial scene, but it contributes to important elements to the construction of the world. It demonstrates the dynamic world of wizards in the eyes of a Muggle unconscious (which can be used as a stand-in of public, especially in this moment of introduction) and shows how critical of Voldemort was critical for the whole world.
It is a fascinating and somewhat bizarre scene that could be performed convincingly on the screen. Watching a man progress through his day, see constantly special things and build him for the shock to suddenly become a parent of his unwanted nephew. It’s invaluable.
Why Harry Potter’s films cut Vernon meeting and being watched by Hogwarts wizards
When The sorcerer stone was done, there was probably less freedom to dive into the details and to capture every moment from the books. This scene is great, but as I said, it’s not crucial. The film was forced to focus on the most instrumental beats in its limited time.
Instead, the film performs two things: it demonstrates uses of magic, such as the transformation of McGonagall from a cat, and this shows that Harry is left to the door of the Dursley, initiating the intrigue. THE Harry Potter TV series can offer what the films have left out.
