A Gerrymandering fight reveals how far Trump will go to avoid electoral responsibility.

The democratic logic of Small -D of an argument put forward by the representative of the State of Texas, Ann Johnson – who, with his colleagues from the state legislature, has left Texas in order to prevent the republican legislators from leading the order of President Trump to radically gery his Congress cards – is beyond the debate.
“If the Republicans are afraid of Texas voters, they should adjust their policies – not to be freezing our cards,” said Johnson, a great lawyer for Texas on Sunday and a legislator with three mandates to prevent the Republican Governor Greg Abbott and the republican legislators of the implementation of Redorme Democrats for the Redraw district. GOP.
Specifically, Texas’ democratic legislators break the quorum – a tactic that effectively denies republican legislative leaders the ability to carry out the Gerrymandering regime in Trump. “I ask everyone to remember that the Quorum Break is a tool that the founding fathers of Texas have set up when a minority party knows that the majority party has left the rails and does something against the interests and the will of the voters,” explains Johnson. “Thousands of you have come out to say that you want your seats to be stolen by Trump. The major ugly bill was adopted by a vote – a vote – and it is afraid that you were going to the polls in November 2026. [in opposition]. They pushed it. They put it on the ground. And, then, know that this extraordinary step of a quorum break is so that your voices can be heard. If they will not be heard here in Texas, then we break the quorum to go to the nation and say: “That’s it! You have to stop Trump’s control! “”
Abbott is apoplectic. He threatened to charge the Democrats with crimes and withdraw them from their elected posts. The informed legal experts say that he does not have the position to do so. And the Democratic governors of several blue states have pointed out that, if Abbott finds a way to override the Democrats of Texas and to continue the new Gerrymander, they can seek to counter its movements by restarting the cards in their own states.
The increasingly chaotic quarrels on the Congress district maps show how high the issues for Texas and all of the United States.
The suddenly nationalized struggle on the Gerrymandering in Texas goes into the basic premises of representative democracy, which the best of the founders of the American project understood as an experience of donation to the people. The experience has never worked perfectly. But, at his best, he provided a check and a balance on the implementation of the executive and the authoritarian abuse of DC Elites.
Current number

In the past, when the American presidents and their parties have experienced the type of collapse in the survey numbers with which Trump and the GOP have been struck since they decided to empty Medicaid and anti-chase programs in order to finance tax reductions for billionaires and, at the same time, made the economy shine with poorly designed price policies.
Or they lost their positions and majorities in the congress in the next elections.
This principle of electoral responsibility has tended to be a powerful corrective of American policy. In its sweetest form, it forces the presidents and the members of the Congress to explain their choices and to try to win the American people at their points of view. In more extreme circumstances, this led to epic political changes, as happened in 1932, when the Americans rejected the Republicans aligned with Wall Street whose policies had accelerated the great depression and replaced them by Franklin Roosevelt and the coalition of the Democrats and the left allies who were going to inaugurate the New Deal.
Now Trump wants to upset the calculation of responsibility by reworking his allies the already very biased cards of Texas in a way that could give the Republicans a chance to keep the house, where they currently occupy 219 seats, just a more than necessary to claim a clear majority in the room of 435 places. But, as always, he also wants to test the amount of authoritarianism with which he can get away with it. If the Gambit of Texas goes ahead, other states controlled by the Republican will surely follow the Lone Star Gop – and if the Supreme Court of the United States allows them to do so, by avoiding what remains of the law on voting rights – Trump and the GOP could keep full control of the federal government in 2026, even if voters in Texas and the nation give the majority of their votes to democrats.
This is what is doing what is happening in Austin more than a simple star struggle. “Their fight is our fight!” explained the governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker, when he welcomed many legislators from Texas to Chicago on Sunday. And it is not just a fight against the district lines of the distorted congress and the rigged elections.
It is a lifelong and death struggle for the future of representative democracy, because the Americans have understood – and for people who are focused on people who, in the best of circumstances, have historically extended to elections at least reasonably free and equitable. “People have to pay attention to what’s going on in Texas at the moment because Donald Trump wants to spread this type of ploy through America,” said American representative Greg Casar, Texas Democrat who presides over the progressive caucus of Congress. “Trump knows that he cannot win the next mid-term elections, so he tries to fuck them. And the way he tries to do [Trump] Trying to do so is dismantling the 1965 voting rights law as we know it. He tries, for example, to try to dismantle the districts of Hispanic and African-American opportunities. I represent a massive district of Latinos here in the Austin region. If Donald Trump is able to remove the votes of the Latinos here in Austin, he soon wants to do it across America. And he could do it and, in the end, try to become more accomplice and corrupt Trump’s Republicans to defend his agenda even if it becomes less popular. »»
