Report, result and goals as Vitinha hat-trick eliminates fiery Spurs

PSG emerged victorious from an eight-goal Champions League thriller with Tottenham, who have conceded nine goals in their last two games.
Vitinha scored his first senior hat-trick as Paris Saint-Germain added more misery to Tottenham with a 5-3 victory at the Parc des Princes.
PSG fell behind surprisingly to a Tottenham side beaten 4-1 by Arsenal last Sunday, with Richarlison putting Thomas Frank’s side ahead in the 35th minute, but a spirited effort from the visitors ultimately fell short.
Frank’s preparation against Arsenal has come under scrutiny and, although his side showed fighting qualities in the French capital, there will be plenty of questions asked about his team’s defense after a frenetic and thrilling encounter.
Vitinha equalized just before half-time with a sublime individual effort, then repeated the trick after Randal Kolo Muani, on loan from PSG, restored Tottenham’s lead.
Tottenham were the architects of their own downfall as Fabian Ruiz put PSG ahead and Willian Pacho made it 4-2, before Kolo Muani scored a second time against his parent club to keep the match in balance.
Vitinha’s third goal from the penalty spot was the decisive blow in a game PSG finished at 10 men after Lucas Hernandez saw red for elbowing Xavi Simons, handing Tottenham their first Champions League defeat of the season. PSG are second in the championship stage standings with 12 points, four points better than Spurs.
Tottenham fight
A trip to the Parc des Princes looked extremely daunting for Tottenham following their north London derby, and those who criticized Frank’s team approach to the match appeared to do so again, with the Dane seemingly going with a similar defensive team.
Yet Spurs were more aggressive than expected and, after mainly limiting PSG to long-range efforts, the visitors took the lead as Kolo Muani nodded home Richarlison after excellent build-up play from Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray.
Tottenham, however, could not keep the hosts at bay before half-time, although it took a sublime effort from Vitinha to restore parity.
The Portuguese midfielder unleashed a rasping strike from the edge of the box towards the bar and at this stage a PSG turnaround seemed inevitable.
PSG ends up taking control
But it didn’t come without a twist, delivered by Kolo Muani, whose volley was diverted by Marquinhos’ head after Gray saw his initial effort cleared off the line.
Tottenham’s lead was once again brief, as Vitinha cleverly placed the ball on his left foot and found the bottom corner just inside the box with an unerring strike from just inside the box.
Six minutes later, PSG completed the turnaround, with Tottenham giving them a helping hand as Crisitan Romero’s pass to Pape Sarr was intercepted, allowing Joao Neves to feed Ruiz to give the reigning champions the lead.
Willian Pacho then appeared to have put the game beyond doubt when he found the bottom right corner after Tottenham had failed to clear a corner, but sloppy play in PSG possession allowed Kolo Muani to give Frank’s men hope as he showed superb composure to shoot low beyond Lucas Chevalier.
That hope was finally extinguished by Vitinha 14 minutes from time, his hat-trick being completed by a confident penalty after Romero handled the box.
