Report: Apple builds web research powered by AI for Siri

While we are still waiting for Apple Intelligence’s new infused Siri to arrive at our iPhones, a new report says that Apple’s plans for its digital assistant go far beyond the scope described so far. According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple works on a new web search feature fueled by AI for Siri to compete with Openai and Perplexity.
The tool, nicknamed “World Knowledge Answers”, is not a large -scale LLM chatbot (large language model), but is based rather on web compromise, research and an LLM to provide web responses. According to the report, the system is supposed to be launched in the spring of 2026 as part of the Grande Rébcs Siri and would compete with Chatgpt, the AI search responses from Google and perplexity when it comes to receiving up -to -date information on the web. Apple can later bring the same system to the safari and highlight the Mac.
The report indicates that the technology behind the new tool “could come in part” from Google. Apparently, the two companies have concluded an official agreement this week in which Apple will test an AI model developed by Google to feed the future Siri upgrade. By coincidence, a judge judged this week that the lucrative partnership of the two companies to make Google the default search engine on iPhones is authorized.
The new research experience will have an interface that “uses” text, images, video and local interests. There will also be AI summaries for longer results.
This new research capacity is only part of a multiple planned overflow of Siri next year. The possibility of understanding and acting with knowledge of the personal context of the user is also planned, to read and understand what is on the screen, and to take measures in applications using a full set of application interfaces called “intentions”.
All this is currently planned for updating the operating system which should correspond to the operating system 26.4, due for the release in the spring. There are other features related to the AI to come later, including a large visual overhaul for Siri, a health and well-being functionality fueled by AI as part of a paying well-being subscription, and a large SIRI update for domestic devices to make them more conversational.
